A Tax Cut Wrapped in a Healthcare Bill

UPDATE-The vote on this awful bill has been delayed, not cancelled.  Thanks to the hard work of you and your neighbors the Republican leadership came to realize they did not have the votes needed to pass the bill.  Now they will use their time off during the 4th of July break to twist arms and make promises/threats to the Senators.  Keep calling, keep the pressure on them.  This delay shows that the calling works.  Use this break as a chance to call the entire list of Senators.  Our families health and financial well being depends on us taking action.

Don’t be confused by all of the noise about the Healthcare bill that is pending in the Senate.  It is nothing more than a tax cut for the top 1% being funded by cutting support for health programs across America. Medicaid is not a program that shoves money at healthy people watching TV all day. Medicaid helps the most vulnerable Americans. Around 64% of seniors in assisted living facilities are receiving support from Medicaid.  Remember the jobs created by the hard working folks in those facilities.  Almost 2 out of 5 children in America have their Healthcare covered by Medicaid.  The Senate bill will reduce Medicaid by over 1 TRILLION dollars over 10 years.  Look at where that new

found savings lands; Tax Cuts.  Not for you and me.  It is going to the millionaires.

You and I will be facing increased premiums.  I know, you were promised reduced premiums.  Forget that promise. Take a look at how much our premiums will be increasing.

The median income in Pasco County is just under $40,000.  Can you afford to have your medical premiums triple under the Senate plan?  What will you have to give up to pay the premiums?  Or, will you be forced to drop insurance and then take a chance that nothing happens to you or your family?

Here is what we need to do if we are to stop this terrible bill from hurting our families.  Call Marco Rubio and tell him to vote NO.  His office number is 202-224-3041.

Then call these Senators that are on the fence and tell them to vote NO.  Use the Senate switchboard number, 202-224-3121.  Don’t assume others will call. Please call today.
