If we are to encourage Democrats and Democrat-leaning NPA voters (No Party Affiliation) across Florida to get off the sidelines and get involved … who better than one of our country’s leading progressive voices in the Democratic Party to join us as keynote speaker? That’s why we are so thrilled to welcome Representative Val Demings.  Currently serving Florida’s 10th Congressional District, U.S. Representative Val Demings was Orlando’s first female Police Chief before winning her Congressional race in 2016. A member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and the Congressional Black Caucus, Rep. Demings serves on the Committee of Homeland Security, the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and was just named to the powerful House Judiciary Committee where she is working to protect the integrity of the Robert Mueller investigation of the 45th president.

Also joining us will be United States Senator from Florida Bill Nelson ( In office since 2001, Sen. Nelson began his career in the Florida House of Representatives, serving from 1972 to 1978. He then served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1979 to 1991. In January 1986, Bill Nelson became the second sitting member of the United States Congress to fly in space as a payload specialist on the Space Shuttle Columbia. Currently seeking re-election for his fourth term, Sen. Nelson is one of the loudest voices fighting off-shore drilling and serves as the ranking member on the Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.

Our local candidates running for office in the 2018 elections will also be attending the Gala, to include: Robert Tager, Chris Hunter for Congress, Brandi Geoit for Pasco County Commissioner, Kelly Smith for Pasco County Commissioner, Brian Staver, Kassie Hutchinson for Pasco County School Board, Kathy Lewis and Tyler Sambucci for Florida House District 37. This is a great way to meet your Pasco candidates!
